A recent conversation with Marie-Christine from Gouttières Samson & Fils, an Elite installer of Alu-Rex products, offered a great opportunity to better understand the history and evolution of this well-established company on Montreal’s South Shore.
Founded in 1995 by Pierre Samson, the company was born from a desire for change. Tired of the long daily commute to work, Pierre had been thinking about starting his own business for some time. The turning point came when he saw a classified ad: a man was selling his gutter truck, likely preparing for retirement.
So, he left a secure job with benefits to start a new career in the gutter industry. After just one week of hands-on training, he officially launched his business—driven by strong motivation and a clear vision for the future.
A few years later, his son Luc joined the company, followed by his daughter Marie-Christine. Today, Gouttières Samson & Fils is a trusted name in the gutter industry throughout Greater Montreal and the Montérégie region.
The arrival of gutter guards led the company to update its approach. After testing several brands, Gouttières Samson & Fils chose to rely on Alu-Rex products. Marie-Christine emphasizes both the quality of the products and the outstanding support:
“Not only are your products very high quality, but your sales and marketing coaching service exceeds our expectations. […] Christian [Bergeron, Territory Manager for Eastern Ontario/Western Quebec at Alu-Rex] came to our office; I had a lot of questions about the DoublePro®. Christian quickly pinpointed what I didn’t understand and helped me get a full grasp of the product’s technology. […] Now I’m comfortable offering it because it’s so much more efficient with the vortex effect. […] Plus, your website is very complete. It’s easy to find the tools we need—technical sheets, explainer videos, photos, and more. It’s a pleasure working with Alu-Rex.”
Recalling standout job sites, Marie-Christine shares a humorous memory: her father and brother once took on a project involving a house built on stilts in the middle of a river. With no way to access it by lift, they had to wade into the water up to their waists and then climb onto the roof to complete the installation.
“Sometimes it’s not easy, but it makes for great stories.”
